Well we have numbers now for to Escape to Portugal Saturday July 4th – July 18thnd.
I met with Sr. Franco who owns 8 apartments.
COSTS RANGE FROM AS LOW AS $1200 TO $1750
depending on choice of accommodation,(Less without the painting workshop) and applicable APPRECIATION DISCOUNT. This DOES NOT INCLUDE airfare, insurances, lunches, dinners, nor personal purchases.
DEPOSIT REQUIRED TO REGISTER $300 by Paypal or mail along with accommodation preference.
BREAKDOWN OF COSTS
$1,000 – WORKSHOP (includes lunches) LESS APPRECIATION DISCOUNT of $200 for any artist who has taken courses or workshops from me in the past.
$150 – GROUND TRANSPORTATION, BREAKFASTS, ORGANIZING AND GUIDING.
This will cover pick up to and from the airport, and all road trips even a bus ride to Lisbon if desired. We will be renting a vehicle as needed.
$300 to $600 – ACCOMMODATIONS PER PERSON
includes sleeping, breakfasts and housekeeping! (Yes for 2 weeks!)
There are three (3) types of apartments.
FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. When your deposit is received you will have first choice of what still available.
Type 1 apartment: There are four (4) of these and one is already taken. Each has one double bedroom and one single bedroom plus a kitchen and bathroom. Cost: $600 for the double room is $600 for two (2) weeks! So it would be $600 for a couple for example. For a 3rd person to use the single room would be an extra $150. So 3 friends could share one Type 1 apartment for $250 for 2 weeks.
Type 2 apartment: There is only one (1) of these. It has 3 double rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. Cost: $500 for a double room with two people, or $400 for one person to have a double room alone. It also has a large common room where there will be lessons.
Type 3 apartment: There are three (3) of these. Each has 2 double rooms, a kitchen and bathroom, plus a large common room for the classes. Cost: $600 for each double room or $500 to have a double room alone
NOT INCLUDED: AIRFARE, INSURANCES, LUNCHES (except during workshop), AND DINNERS
The fees do not include airfare but I understand that the plane seats get sold out many months before the trip so do follow up now. I am talking to travel agent Marina and she works at Holiday Seasons Travel…416-588-8001 and am leaning towards Transat. I plan to get my tickets in the next couple of weeks.
Other costs to plan for: gifts, supplies, insurance, lunches, dinners and drinks.
Food is very INEXPENSIVE AND YET EXCELLENT. Lunches can be purchased even at the beach. On any given day, one can cook for themselves in their apartment, or share the BBQ, eat out or we can hire a cook.

WAIVER: ‘Escape with Gary’ (Gary Smith) and its agents make every effort to select reliable suppliers and contractors to provide transportation and sleeping accommodation, food and other related travel services, but we do not assume responsibility, directly or indirectly, for any loss, damage, illness or injury to persons in connection with such services. Each traveler agrees not to hold ‘Escape with Gary’, Gary Smith, or any other owners and agents liable (in the absence of their gross negligence) for any loss or injury, expense or damage which results directly or indirectly from any act or omission of any person or firm which is to or does provide goods or services in connections with the trip. Gary Smith and cooperating agents shall not be liable for circumstances arising as a result of Acts of God; weather; detention; annoyances; delays and expenses arising from quarantines, strikes, theft, pilferage, , force majeure, military, political or terrorist action, government restrictions; failure of any means of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled; discrepancies or changes in transit over which they have no control. Escape With Gary (Gary Smith) reserves the right to change fees, dates or itineraries at any time.
The participant will by signing this Waiver, will acknowledge it and accept these terms.
